Job description

Tourism Holdings Limited (thl) is the world's leading provider of holiday vehicles for rent and sale, operating under various brands across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and the UK. Our brands include maui, Apollo, Britz, Cheapa Camper, Hippie, Mighty rentals, and more. We also design motorhomes through Action Manufacturing and create digital products via thl Digital. About the role: We’re looking for a full time, permanent Mechanic Team Leader to take charge of our frontline workshop operations. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll guide a team of mechanics, drive productivity, and ensure every vehicle leaves the workshop performing at its best. Your mission: exceed customer expectations while hitting quality, efficiency, and strategic targets. What we’re looking for: We’re seeking someone who brings both technical expertise and leadership skills to the table: A recognised trade qualification (Light or Heavy Automotive Engineering Level 4, or equivalent international). At least a restricted driver’s licence. 5–7 years’ automotive industry experience preferred. Previous team leader or supervisory experience in busy workshop environments. Strong knowledge of automotive mechanics, diagnostics, and workshop systems. Proven ability to train, mentor, and motivate a diverse team. Commitment to health & safety standards and compliance. Reliable under pressure, with excellent communication and organisational skills. What you’ll do: As Mechanic Team Leader, you’ll: Lead daily workshop operations, organising workflow and fostering a positive team environment. Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to thl standards. Decide on repair vs. replacement based on inspections. Confirm repairs through test drives, adjustments, and quality checks. Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and brand requirements. Support recruitment, rostering, and performance management. Train and guide mechanics, resolving operational challenges. Use Microsoft Asset Manager to track workflows, parts, and labour. Champion health and safety practices across the workshop. Why join us: At thl, we don’t just fix vehicles — we create unforgettable journeys. Joining us means: Leading a team that keeps adventure moving across New Zealand. Working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Opportunities to grow your leadership skills and make a real impact. Being part of a company that values safety, teamwork, and innovation. Access to unique travel experiences and benefits that make life outside the workshop just as exciting. Ready to lead the road ahead? If you’re a skilled mechanic with a passion for leadership and a drive to deliver excellence, we want you on our team. Apply now and help us keep New Zealand’s adventures rolling.
