Primary title (best-performing): Consultant Psychiatrist (MD Psychiatry)

Medico Hub is recruiting an experienced on-site Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Barnala, Punjab clinical team. Compensation is competitive and negotiable based on experience and fit.

• Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and personalized treatment planning using DSM-5 criteria.
• Prescribe and manage psychopharmacological treatments; monitor treatment response and adverse effects and adjust regimens accordingly.
• Deliver evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT/DBT) and coordinate multidisciplinary care with psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff.
• Perform and supervise Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) where indicated; ensure informed consent, safety protocols, and post-procedure follow-up.
• Conduct suicide and violence risk assessments, manage psychiatric emergencies, and lead crisis intervention efforts on-site.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in quality-improvement initiatives, and mentor junior clinicians and trainees.

Must-Have

• MD or DNB in Psychiatry with valid Indian medical registration (NMC/State Medical Council).
• Proven clinical experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric practice.
• Demonstrated competence in psychopharmacology and medication management.
• Experience administering or supervising Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
• Strong assessment skills using DSM-5, including suicide and violence risk evaluation.
• Fluency in English and Punjabi to communicate effectively with local patients and families.

Preferred

• Experience in addiction psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, or child & adolescent psychiatry.
• Familiarity with liaison psychiatry and community mental-health programs.
• Prior exposure to telepsychiatry services and electronic medical records.
