Job description
A role in the acute care / hospital services sector providing intensive care to critically ill adult and paediatric patients across on-site hospital facilities in India. We are hiring an experienced on-site ICU physician to join a protocol-driven clinical team delivering 24x7 critical care services. Primary title (best-performing standard title on LinkedIn): ICU Medical Officer.
Role & Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the ICU during assigned 12-hour shifts: assess, stabilise and manage critically ill patients following evidence-based protocols.
- Manage ventilators, titrate inotropes/vasopressors, interpret ABGs and order/interpret urgent investigations to guide therapy.
- Lead resuscitations and emergency procedures (airway management, central/arterial access) and coordinate with nursing and allied teams during emergencies.
- Document clinical findings, treatment plans and handovers accurately in the medical record and escalate changes in patient status promptly.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, liaise with consultants/specialists and contribute to discharge planning and family communication.
- Adhere to infection control, patient-safety protocols and hospital policies; support audits and quality-improvement initiatives in critical care.
Must-Have
- MBBS degree with valid Indian medical registration (NMC/MCI) and right to practice in India.
- Demonstrable ICU experience (mandatory) with hands-on exposure to ventilator management and vasoactive drug administration.
- Comfortable working 12-hour on-site shifts, including night and weekend rotations.
- ACLS certification or equivalent emergency-resuscitation training.
- Strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making under pressure and accurate documentation skills.
Preferred
- Prior experience in tertiary or high-acuity ICUs, neonatal/pediatric intensive care exposure or diploma/MD in critical care/medicine.
- Familiarity with hospital electronic medical records, quality improvement and basic leadership/supervisory experience.
- On-site position in India; duty hours are 12-hour shifts as per roster.
- Compensation paid on an hourly basis (competitive hourly rate; exact rate discussed during interview/offer).
