No comms, no glory!

Are you ready to become the ears and eyes of a naval ship? As a Seaman Communications Service, you play a crucial role in every mission and exercise. From the bridge and in the Network Operations Center (NOC), of an operational unit, you collect, process, and send information that can be vital for the operation. You are the indispensable link that ensures command always remains connected with the rest of the units and command centers ashore.

What you will do

Without connections, a mission comes to a standstill. As a communicator, you and your team ensure that communication remains possible at all times. You keep the ship in contact with allies, other units, and shore-based command centers. No operation without you!

• You build, secure, and monitor the communication lines that are essential for every maritime operation.
• You will work with the various communication systems on board a naval ship. Think of transmitters, receivers, computer networks, and satellite communication systems.
• You are the voice of the ship and have direct communication with military and non-military ships and civilian units.
• You will learn to encrypt and decrypt messages with secret codes, become acquainted with various ciphers and apply them, while strictly guarding information security.
• As an Incident Operator, you support the network administrator and Incident Controller with Service Desk tasks. You will delve into IT and network management, the technical backbone of all communications.
• You monitor the information flows between command and all participating units.

Where you will work

After completing your training, you will start working at the Communications Service of the Navy.
You will work as a seaman on the bridge and in the Network Operations Center on one of our naval ships, where you and your team will manage communication flows worldwide.
Exercises and deployments are a standard part of your work.
