About the Company



Provide back-end support to the SimpleMDG commercial team: support associates, business process owners, and partners in local affiliates. The Data Steward role serves as the primary point of contact for affiliates for the creation, activation, and maintenance of SAP material master data using Alcon's Global Master Data Management standards and guidelines to ensure a high degree of data accuracy, consistency, and completeness. Regional and Local Data Stewards will support the SAP Master Data processes and procedures necessary for effective material master data management for Alcon's commercial affiliates in the business regions. Data Stewards will work directly with the Global Data Management team to ensure all global governance requirements are met.



About the Role



Provide back-end support to the SimpleMDG commercial team - support associates, business process owners, and partners in local affiliates.



Responsibilities



  • Create and maintain local material master data records and perform ongoing local data maintenance for global materials.
  • Provide guidance to commercial functional teams on procedural and systematic tasks required for material master data management in IRIS.
  • Analyze business issues and operational data from one or more sources to formulate solutions of moderate to significant complexity.
  • Ensure that Alcon business rules defined in the GDM Data Dictionary are applied in data maintenance.
  • Analyze and complete new material master data configuration requests and changes in Alcon's ERP system, support daily business operations.
  • Work closely with other commercial teams such as Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Sales, to address and resolve master data issues in a timely manner.
  • Consult disparate databases to analyze large amounts of data to support Alcon's corporate ERP data validation activities.
  • Participate in data governance and data quality/cleansing activities to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate data configuration activities such as costs, pricing, material data extension approvals as needed in the new material activation process for commercial affiliates.
  • Collect and store evidence of each change event related to financially controlled material attributes and perform monthly financial control audits using standard guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary contact within the contacted regional business immediately when a business interruption related to materials occurs (transactional, logistical).
  • Understand local and regional SCM structure to perform appropriate extensions and configurations to support local supply chain activities and obtain approvals in a timely manner.
  • Support the maintenance of local affiliate configurations that require close/quick coordination with affiliate warehouses, customer service, planners, and marketing.
  • Work directly with the Global Data Management team to represent EMEA as global material configuration changes are proposed (UOM, GTIN, Descriptions, etc.).



Qualifications


  • University degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or similar or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent English is required and any other European language is a plus.



Required Skills

  • Proficient in SAP Material Master, PIR, SL (3-5 years of SAP MM experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in transactions such as MM01/MM02/Qa08/MEK1, ME11, ME01/ME02, MM17, etc. related to material master data.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working within a matrix structure in a fast-paced international environment.
  • Hands-on attitude, ability to operate with minimal supervision and across different geographical and cultural backgrounds.
