Job description
Free knowledge leads to a fairer world. The Wikipedia is the most significant online knowledge collection of our time. Alone the German-speaking Wikipedia has nearly 1 billion page views per month and currently comprises 3 million articles. We support the volunteers of Wikipedia and its sister projects, develop free software, such as Wikidata, and advocate for access to information, opening up education and research, and more community-oriented data policy.
We are looking for an unlimited *n Marketing Manager*in (all genders) in full-time (40 weekly hours) with a start date of March 1st, 2026 or earlier.
This position is designed as a hybrid work model with weekly presence (2-3 days/week) at our office in Berlin.
Aufgaben
The Communication Team is responsible for all external communication, works with usual owned channels, and makes classic press work. We give the Wiki-communities a stage in broad public awareness and strengthen the brands and visibility of Wikipedia and Wikidata. Our team is diverse and creative; we want to know as much as possible to always discover and tell new stories.
We are excited to announce this first time a position in marketing is being written due to a Wikipedia anniversary and challenges in the area of Wikipedia usage. The role is anchored in the Communication Team, but will work strongly interdisciplinary and as an interface to Fundraising.
Aufgaben:
- Create a strategy for product marketing Wikipedia and establish the instruments for an effective marketing mix;
- Conception and steering of marketing campaigns for online and/or offline channels;
- Creating market and competitive analyses;
- Controlling and performance analysis of implemented measures and agency budgets;
- Cross-sectional and team-based work with our Fundraising, Communication, and Wikipedia Audience Team to maximize the impact of marketing measures;
- Agency steering and monitoring;
- Creating performance reports, preparing important key figures for your own team and management, as well as creating competitive and market analyses.
Qualifikation
- Marketing expertise and relevant professional experience in marketing organizations of various sizes, preferably in non-profit or NGO contexts;
- Knowledge about current trends in the marketing field, especially in times of generative AI, as well as willingness to continuously further develop oneself;
- Experience in using analysis, tracking, monitoring tools but also flexibility and creativity to adapt to an organization that works data-sparingly;
- Experience in leading media and creative agencies;
alternatively: You have experience working with freelancers and know how to strategically and conceptually plan and implement projects; - Experience in cooperation with bloggers and influencers/influencer/sinfluencers;
- Good thematic and social sense for digital media processes;
- Kreativity for marketing projects in the NGO sector;
- A strong team spirit and a collaborative working style;
- Very good German and English language skills (written and spoken).
