Marine

Introductory text

As a Marine, you and your team are deployable anywhere in the world at short notice. From the stifling heat of the jungle to the icy polar night. Are you healthy, athletic, and willing to go to the extreme?

After you have applied, you will be invited for the Marine Fitness Test. If you pass that, you will then receive an invitation for the introductory days.

What you will do

As a Marine, you participate in exercises and operations at home and abroad. You operate on the border of land and water, often in darkness to avoid detection. You can be deployed anywhere in the world, so you must be physically and mentally prepared for anything. Marines therefore do a lot of sports, maintain their skills, and often train in diverse conditions; on the water and in the mountains, in humid heat and freezing cold. As a Marine, you can specialize as a paratrooper, frogman, sports instructor, or ski instructor, among others.

The Marine Corps shapes you for life. You will elevate your physical and mental strength to a high level and learn to work together seamlessly as a team. Colleagues become close friends, and after your service, you will have an advantage with many employers.

PLUS POINTS OF THIS FUNCTION

• Salary: in addition to your gross base salary, our allowances and our favorable travel, pension, and health insurance schemes result in a pleasant net surprise.
• Work atmosphere: you will never find such a close-knit team of colleagues as in the Defense organization.
• Variety: As a Marine, no day is the same. You work under the most diverse conditions at home and abroad.

Where you will work

First, you will follow the Marine Training, a 24-week program in Rotterdam. During this training, various courses are offered, including shooting training, basic helicopter training, amphibious skills, field weeks, and a three-week mountain training abroad. After successfully completing this 24-week Marine Training, you will start the 16-week MARSOF Operator Course, followed by a specialization training. Afterward, you will be assigned to the operational Recce & Strike Teams of the Marine Corps.

You can also choose to start working within the Marine Corps directly after the 24-week Marine Training in roles such as Musician, Communication Specialist, or Mechanic. In that case, you only need to successfully complete the 24-week Marine Training.
