Lead operational excellence and enable effective regulatory delivery for commercial transport safety * Drive performance monitoring, reporting, and workflow coordination in a dynamic environment * Collaborate with diverse teams and partners to support continuous improvement and innovation Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Manager Operations Support - Commercial Transport Regulation, you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Commercial Transport Regulation to maintain oversight of the end-to-end regulatory sub-system. You'll enable effective operations by ensuring performance monitoring, reporting, and workflow coordination are robust, responsive, and aligned with strategic priorities. You'll lead the development and implementation of tools and processes that support visibility of regulatory activity, analyse risk, and translate insights into targeted regulatory approaches. Your work will help operational teams respond to emerging issues and deliver consistent, risk-informed regulatory outcomes. You'll also manage programme and workflow planning, coordinate resources, and act as a key liaison with NZTA corporate support functions. Additionally, you'll oversee relationships with third-party providers, ensuring contracted services contribute to regulatory outcomes and meet performance expectations. The key responsibilities of the role will see you: * Lead tracking and reporting of key performance indicators across operational functions * Develop and maintain outcome-focused performance metrics, reporting structures, and dashboards * Provide strategic analysis and advice to proactively identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and opportunities * Support internal audits and reviews by ensuring accurate, timely, and relevant performance data * Contribute to the development and refinement of regulatory approaches * Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives, embedding best practices and operational efficiency * Connect with strategic and operational change programmes, facilitating operational input and planning * Monitor project progress, ensuring milestones, timelines, and deliverables are met * Evaluate outcomes of improvement initiatives and apply insights to future planning * Champion delivery of key actions by providing direction, workflow coordination, and reporting You will find out more about the role here. Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in the role, you'll bring: * Proven ability to translate strategic direction into operational delivery within a large, complex organisation * Experience influencing, collaborating, and building credibility across a wide range of stakeholders * Strong analytical and systems thinking skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and provide evidence-based insights * Experience in setting up and managing performance monitoring and reporting systems * Sound understanding of regulatory systems and government processes, ideally gained in central or local government * Strong written communication and presentation skills * Experience in business and financial planning, including developing performance metrics and cost recovery models * Proven success in leading teams and supporting operational delivery in complex regulatory environments * Knowledge of project management principles and experience in leading or supporting projects and improvement initiatives * Ability to apply technical learning to improve service delivery and foster a culture of continuous improvement * Demonstrated capability in managing change and supporting teams through transformation * Comfortable working in areas of ambiguity and complexity, with a proactive and self-directed approach You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public service.
