Who are we?
The work is performed within the staff of the 13 Light Brigade at the Generaal-majoor de Ruyter van Steveninckkazerne in Oirschot. The 13 Light Brigade is the motor-driven combat unit of the army, focused on combat power and speed. Our department is the central player for everything related to information provision, system management, and data within this brigade. We ensure that the systems work, the data is secure, and users are optimally supported, both in peacetime and during operational deployment and exercises.
What will you do as Manager Information Management?
In this versatile role, you will focus on advising and supporting line management and employees in the area of information management. You are the link between policy and daily execution. Because your work area covers the entire 13 Light Brigade, you will work closely with the underlying units in Oirschot and will often be involved in deployments domestically and abroad. Your tasks are challenging and require a structured and proactive approach:
- Policy & Advice: You translate policy, frameworks, norms, and laws and regulations into workable processes for the unit and advise on lifecycle choices and the priority of new needs.
- Analysis & Implementation: You collect and analyze processes and information needs, and draw up operational IM/IS plans, which you then independently implement at (sub)units.
- Optimization of IT domain: You analyze organizational problems, formulate improvement proposals, and present solution alternatives to optimize the use of systems and processes.
- Direction & Accountability: You handle functional information requests, coordinate with functional management, and report directly to the staff on the realization of policy and products.
Job requirements
What do we ask of you?
- A completed HBO (Higher Professional Education) degree (Computer Science / ICT), with a specialization in information management or information housing.
- Relevant experience within a government organization in the field of information management, information housing, and/or business operations.
- Demonstrable work experience in a role where advising management (such as a Commander, Chief of Staff, or C-Level) was a primary component.
- You possess specialist knowledge of information, laws and regulations, and content to co-create complex annual plans (level 3).
- Excellent analytical ability and systems thinking: you understand chain dependencies and distill complex information into an understandable core.
- Strong advisory skills, administrative sensitivity, and a high degree of ownership and learning ability.
- You are willing to undergo a security investigation at the VGB-B level.

From 2025, defense employees will no longer receive holiday pay and year-end bonus as separate payments, but will accrue them monthly through the Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB for defense employees totals 16.33 percent of the salary. With the IKB, defense employees can decide for themselves when, on what, and how much budget they spend on time, money, or tax facilities. This can be up to the monthly accrued budget. The IKB can be used for:
- A maximum of 15 percent of the salary can be used monthly for the exchange of the commuting allowance.
- The monthly difference between the reimbursement of costs for personal transport for commuting and the tax maximum.
- A bicycle for personal use, including bicycle accessories and bicycle insurance.
- A computer that can also be used for work or study, including computer accessories and computer insurance.
- A battery or electrical parts for a bicycle.
- The payment of union membership fees.
- Defense expects to further expand the possibilities of the IKB in the future.
Special conditions
- A security investigation (VGB) is part of the application process.
- It is necessary that you have Dutch nationality as a civilian applicant. The ability to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is a condition for employment. In addition, a security investigation and reference check may be part of the selection procedure. This involves a background check on, among other things, criminal records and financial matters, which takes an average of 8 weeks.

In 2023 and 2024, the brigade is preparing to be ready as part of the division from 2025 within the renewed NATO Force Model (NFM). Additionally, the brigade supports civilian authorities in the context of national operations.
