Retail Development Manager (Fashion)

For one of the most well-known Romanian fashion retailers undergoing a new development phase, I am recruiting a Development Manager.

To support this growth plan, the Retail Development Manager is responsible for identifying, negotiating, and implementing expansion opportunities for the network.

I am looking for a Development Manager who will coordinate not only the process of opening new stores but also the adaptation of the entire operational infrastructure necessary to support growth.

Success in this role will not be measured solely by the number of stores opened, but by the ability to integrate new locations into existing operations without affecting logistical efficiency, stock levels, supply speed, and customer experience.

Main Responsibilities

• Coordinates the opening projects of new stores from location approval to operational entry.
• Develops implementation plans and monitors compliance with deadlines and budgets.
• Coordinates the activities of all departments involved in the opening process.
• Defines and implements the necessary processes for integrating new stores into the network.
• Coordinates operational preparation before opening: supply flows; goods receipt; initial stocks; operational procedures;
• Ensures that each store is fully functional and integrated into company processes from the very first day of operation.
• Analyzes the impact of each opening on existing logistical capacity.
• Proposes and implements adaptations to reception, sorting, warehousing, and distribution flows.
• Identifies operational bottlenecks generated by the increase in the number of stores.
• Participates in the design and optimization of logistical processes for an expanded network.
• Collaborates with the warehouse manager and operations responsible for adapting goods flow.
• Analyzes warehouse capacity and logistical resource needs.
• Proposes solutions to increase productivity and reduce processing times.
• Monitors the loading level of the warehouse and the distribution system.
• Documents and standardizes operational processes for all stores.
• Creates replicable procedures for opening and integrating new locations.
• Ensures uniform implementation of operational standards throughout the network.
• Coordinates continuous improvement projects.
• Periodically reports project progress to management.

Candidate Profile

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in operational retail, logistics, supply chain, or commercial network development.
• Hands-on experience in opening and operationalizing stores.
• Experience in project management and process implementation.
• Experience in fashion retail is a significant advantage.
• High capacity for organization and implementation.
• Very good understanding of logistical and commercial flows.
• Strong cross-functional coordination skills.
• Process-oriented and scalability mindset.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex operational problems.
• Availability for field work and frequent travel.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

In 12-16 months, the person in this role will have built an operational model that allows the company to:

• open new stores in a predictable and controlled manner;
• manage a larger volume of goods without disproportionate cost increases;
• reduce reliance on ad-hoc solutions and permanent interventions;
• standardize processes between the warehouse and stores;
• support network growth without losing operational control.

This role is essentially an organization builder: someone who prepares the client to transition from an entrepreneurial network of a few stores to a retail platform capable of rapid and profitable expansion.
