Job description
What you need to know about us?
We are Athora Netherlands, an insurance company with the well-known brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. We are primarily involved with pensions and life insurance in the Dutch market. We do this as part of a European group with branches in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, and Italy. We are a strong company with over one million customers, and we aim to grow into one of the most important players in the rapidly changing pension market in the coming years. That is why we are looking for people who do not shy away from change, who know how to get things done, who have the ambition to deliver results, and who therefore bring out the best in themselves and their team. Smarter together, as we call it.
What will you do?
As Manager CTO Office, you will report directly to the CTO and manage approximately 16 IT professionals. The CTO Office is the central steering and support body within the CTO domain.
From the team, you will ensure that the Technology domain is demonstrably in control, with integrated steering on governance, risk, performance, change portfolio, and Third Parties, among other things.
Together with your team, you will ensure reliable, secure, and customer- and business-oriented Technology services. You will build a professional, results-oriented work environment where continuous learning, talent development, craftsmanship, ownership, and continuous improvement are central.
As Manager CTO Office, you have a key role within the Technology MT and report directly to the CTO. You connect leadership and strategic insight with a pragmatic approach. This way, you ensure cohesive steering and control of the Technology domain, where governance and control contribute to better decision-making and an effective IT organization.
Steering and Control
You will develop and implement an integrated vision of governance and control, with which Athora effectively meets internal and external obligations while creating space for innovation and growth. You will provide direction for governance, quality & risk management, process management, compliance, performance management, service management, and demand & delivery management. You will actively steer towards quality, predictability, and continuous improvement, ensuring that management decisions are based on clear insights and measurable results.
Change and Improvement
You will develop and manage the change portfolio for the CTO domain. In doing so, you will continuously seek ways to make the organization work smarter, simpler, and more effectively, ensuring that changes contribute to Athora's strategic goals.
Your main responsibilities:
You will lead the CTO Office, develop talent, and strengthen craftsmanship, ownership, and a professional, results-oriented culture;
You will manage the Technology change portfolio, actively seeking connection with the involved Change & Agility managers and the central portfolio function;
You will develop and improve IT governance: you will clarify responsibilities, strengthen decision-making, provide direction, and ensure alignment between Technology Governance and Data & AI Governance, which is managed by the Data & AI Office;
Together with the relevant stakeholders, you will ensure quality, risk management, and compliance within Technology;
On behalf of Technology, you will prepare the meetings with supervisors such as DNB, the external auditor, Internal Audit, and second-line control functions;
You will manage Third Party Risk Management and ensure that the risks, performance, and compliance of strategic IT sourcing partners are effectively managed;
You will develop and monitor the sourcing strategy and outsourcing policy. You will also organize and monitor the governance and monitoring of critical outsourced activities;
You will provide clear operational, tactical, and strategic steering information, thereby strengthening transparent decision-making and a strong performance culture.
You will monitor budgets, control costs, and make the finances within Technology and the underlying services transparent;
You will coach and functionally lead Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, and Scrum Masters within Technology.
What do we ask of you?
For this role, we are looking for an experienced manager who can maintain an overview in a complex Technology landscape while staying close enough to the execution to actually realize change.
This is what you bring at least:
University Bachelor's/Master's work and thinking level and a relevant education, preferably in information management, IT, business administration, or a similar field;
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience within financial services, with a strong track record in strategic advice, Governance, IT governance, IT process management, quality & risk control, and performance, service, and demand & delivery management;
Extensive experience in managing, developing, and inspiring teams of comparable size, enabling employees to achieve their best;
In-depth knowledge of IT4IT, COBIT, and other leading IT standards and frameworks, and the ability to effectively apply them in a complex organizational environment;
Demonstrated experience with SAFe principles and Agile working, including increment planning, sprint cadence, backlog management, and successfully managing inter-team dependencies;
Strong change management skills, translating strategic ambitions into concrete initiatives and achieving lasting results;
Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior management, Legal & Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, and external auditors;
Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, verbal and written.
What do we offer you?
You will have about 900 colleagues who all believe they work for a special company. You will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to the socially relevant theme of pensions. We ensure that your pension is well arranged, so you can enjoy your old age without worries.
