Job description

In a nutshell

Our Fulfilment Centers are among the most modern of their kind, delivering fresh groceries to thousands of households daily. Next, we aim to open our brand-new hybrid Fulfilment Center in the Berlin/Brandenburg region (Falkensee). Falkensee is one of the first locations where we will build up our maintenance of automated systems internally, instead of outsourcing it completely. As Maintenance Operations & Continuous Improvement Manager (m/f/d), you will take strategic responsibility for the performance and continuous development of our material handling systems and maintenance processes at the site.

You will be the central interface between the automated and manual processes in the Fulfilment Center, the operational teams, your Maintenance Team, our Engineering and Analytics teams, as well as external partners. You will translate overarching site objectives into concrete improvement initiatives, use data to identify optimization potentials, and ensure that system availability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement remain at a high level in the long term.

What awaits you

  • Hands-on leadership: Manage the maintenance area in day-to-day operations and support Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors in effectively leading their teams. You will ensure the right structures and priorities are in place and, together with your team, guarantee the achievement of our system availability goals – without steering every operational detail yourself.
  • Strategic responsibility for the maintenance area: Develop the long-term performance strategy for our maintenance area and take responsibility for key KPIs in the areas of safety, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Drive site-wide Kaizen initiatives, Lean methods, and root cause analyses. You will identify structural improvement potentials and ensure that continuous improvement becomes an integral part of our working methods.
  • Data-driven process and automation optimization: Analyze complex operational and technical processes using data, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions together with the technical teams to sustainably improve the reliability and availability of our systems.
  • Interface across various departments: Bring together Maintenance, Engineering, our suppliers, Planning, Analytics, and Operations, and ensure that all stakeholders work towards common goals and that processes along the entire value chain function smoothly.
  • Standards & Governance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, 5S principles, and operational best practices across the entire site together with the responsible teams – focusing on structures and standards rather than daily technical detail management.

What you bring to the table

  • Master's degree (MSc) in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a comparable technical or analytical degree/qualification
  • 5+ years of professional experience with a focus on maintenance, operational strategy, continuous improvement, or process engineering
  • Strong interest in automation, robotics, and technical maintenance systems
  • Demonstrable experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen – ideally in an automated high-volume environment
  • Very good analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel, Sheets, or SQL
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to influence across departments and drive larger initiatives
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for bringing diverse stakeholders together
  • Fluent English skills, German language skills are a big plus

What you can look forward to

  • Get started – with us: Become part of our international team in an environment that fosters real growth and an “Act like an Owner” mentality. With us, you have the opportunity to drive projects independently, test new ideas, and directly witness how your work makes an impact in our rapidly growing company.
  • Sustainability at its core: Be part of the revolution. You contribute to a greener future – through our 100% electric fleet and a supply chain that reduces food waste.
  • The basics: We provide you with everything for your success – including a laptop and mobile phone, as well as access to exclusive employee discounts (Corporate Benefits) for travel, technology, and much more.
  • Time to recharge: With 30 vacation days per year (for a 40-hour week), you ensure the perfect balance between work and recovery.
  • Catering for winners: We take care of you. Enjoy a fresh, free breakfast and lunch or dinner every day in our Fulfilment Center, along with plenty of snacks and fruit for an energy boost.
  • Unforgettable moments: We are more than just a team. From our legendary annual ski trip to Christmas parties and performances by our own Picnic band: We celebrate our successes together.
  • Well-being & Balance: We offer you professional support for your mental health with OpenUp.
