Maintenance Engineer

Job description

What if you, as a Maintenance Engineer, are responsible for the reliable and future-proof functioning of one of the most complex environments in the Netherlands?
At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, you ensure that thousands of technical assets continue to perform optimally. From installations in Terminal 3 to vital systems in Schiphol Plaza: you maintain the balance between availability, risks, costs, and lifespan.

Make it possible

  • As a Maintenance Engineer, you translate performance requirements into well-thought-out maintenance concepts and maintenance activities. You substantiate maintenance strategies with risk and cost considerations, based on FMECA and RCM among others, thus ensuring a demonstrably optimal balance between investment, failure probability, availability, and maintenance costs.

You are involved throughout the entire lifecycle of assets: from design to realization and maintenance. You contribute to design requirements, test designs for maintainability and lifespan, and continue to monitor performance to optimize maintenance concepts. With your interest in digitalization and data analysis, you actively contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance, reliability, and monitoring.

Within BAM Schiphol, you will be involved in, among other things:

  • Developing and improving maintenance concepts for buildings, installations, and technical assets
  • Drafting multi-year maintenance plans (MJOP) and translating these into annual plans
  • Executing and supervising FMECA's and translating risks into maintenance measures
  • Monitoring assets using data and (where possible) automated systems
  • Performing performance analyses for major maintenance, overhaul, and replacement
  • Advising the client on maintenance strategy, performance, and investments
  • Identifying bottlenecks and developing improvement proposals
  • Translating maintenance concepts into maintenance and service plans
  • Contributing to initiatives focused on continuous improvement with data

Your team

You will work at BAM Bouw en Techniek Schiphol, part of the Management and Maintenance organization. Together with colleagues from various disciplines, you manage and maintain a large and diverse range of assets at Schiphol, including Terminal 3 and Schiphol Plaza. You are part of the Asset Management team and work closely with subject matter experts, operations, suppliers, and the client Schiphol.

We offer you

  • A salary between €4,630 - 5,780 gross per 4 weeks (based on 40 hours and excluding 8% holiday allowance).
  • 25 vacation days and 13 scheduled days off per calendar year according to the collective labor agreement for the Technical Installation Industry.
  • A reimbursement for your travel expenses (100% public transport or mileage allowance), a laptop, iPhone, and bicycle lease plan.
  • Ample opportunities for professional development, including through ‘BAM Learning’. Other training and courses are always negotiable.
  • Hybrid working for a good work-life balance.
  • Nice extras such as an average of 40% discount on your sports membership and benefits on various private insurances.

You recognize yourself in this

You have a strong interest in technology, maintenance, and reliability, and can translate analyses into practical and substantiated advice.

And further:

  • You have a higher professional education (hbo) work and thinking level
  • You have a completed technical education, for example in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, installation technology, or technical business administration.
  • You have at least three years of experience in a comparable role
  • You have knowledge of maintenance methodologies and multi-year maintenance plans
  • You have experience with FMECA and/or RCM or similar risk analyses
  • You have knowledge of asset management, TCO, and laws and regulations
  • You work analytically, structured, and communicate clearly at a tactical level

Do you recognize yourself in this? Then we would love to meet you! If you don't recognize yourself in everything, but the position appeals to you, we encourage you to apply. Enthusiasm and the desire to grow are at least as important to us as a complete list of diplomas and certificates.
