The tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • To comply with the descriptions in the “Permanent Orders of the Chief Machine Operator”;
  • To perform tasks, instructed by the Service Officer at the Machine Room;
  • To assist during the service of the quarter;
  • To be present at the Machine Room or another previously determined location during the vessel's maneuvers or in emergency situations;
  • To maintain, under the supervision of the machine operator on duty, all equipment, mechanical installations, pneumatic and hydraulic systems functioning correctly;
  • To inspect ahead of time the necessary systems for the operation of the vessel, keeping them always in working condition;
  • To report immediately to the service officer at the Machine Room any irregularity observed during the inspection;
  • To execute scheduled maintenance tasks for installations related to your activity and due repairs, under the supervision of the service officer at the Machine Room;
  • To perform general services in the Machine Room and other compartments of the vessel as designated by your superior;
  • To maintain the installations, equipment, and utensils entrusted to you in good operating condition, organization, and cleanliness;
  • To participate in tank cleaning duties when requested by your Immediate Supervisor and/or Chief Machine Operator;
  • To check if your “Maritime Health Certificate” is valid and ensure that its renewal is done before its expiration;
  • To participate in integrated tasks;
  • To take precautions and contribute to the prevention of marine environment pollution
  • To work with care and technique, using necessary PPE for performing your duties safely and requiring others involved to do so;
  • To know your function and the other described in the emergency task table of the vessel;
  • To inform yourself about the distribution and operation of safety and salvage equipment on the vessel;
  • To participate in risk assessments before activities.

Your responsibility is to perform your tasks punctually and within the quality standards of the company.
