The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is seeking a dynamic, innovative, proactive, and initiative-taking professional for the position of Technician in General Services to work in the Maintenance Unit of CIMMYT.

The selected person will work at CIMMYT's central offices located in Texcoco, State of Mexico, 45 minutes from Mexico City.

Main responsibilities of the position are:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance works on painting, welding, door repairs, aluminum, sanding, tile, ceiling, false ceilings, and general maintenance.
• General carpentry work, tile, waterproofing.
• Moving, repairing, and assembling office furniture and household items in general.
• Support filling up fuel for maintenance vehicles such as trucks and motorcycles.
• Perform carpentry works for construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures.
• Maintain tools and equipment necessary to perform work in optimal working conditions, and report any failure or malfunction to the immediate supervisor.
• Maintain a record of work orders and logbooks.
• Carry out support functions assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• The person holding the position should preferably have a technical career in maintenance. Secondary studies are necessary.
• The candidate should have at least four years of experience occupying a similar position or performing similar activities.
• The candidate should have preferably experience in general carpentry work.
• The person holding the position must comply with established safety standards.
• The candidate should be available for rolling shifts and working on weekends and holidays, as indicated by their immediate supervisor.
• The selected person must show a sense of urgency and commitment to their responsibilities and deadlines.
• The person selected must demonstrate the following competencies: Critical thinking, Communication, Teamwork, Customer orientation, Problem-solving, and Decision-making.
