The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) is seeking a dynamic, innovative, proactive, and initiative-taking professional for the position of Technician in General Services to work in the Maintenance Unit of CIMMYT.

The selected person will work at the central offices of CIMMYT, located in Texcoco, State of Mexico, 45 minutes from Mexico City.

Main responsibilities of the position are:

• Maintenance and repair of painting, welding, door repairs, aluminum, sanding, roof repairs, and general maintenance.
• Movement, repair, and installation of office furniture and household items in general.
• Support for filling up fuel tanks for maintenance vehicles such as trucks and motorcycles.
• Carpentry work for the construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures.
• Maintaining tools and equipment necessary to perform work in optimal working conditions, and reporting any failure or malfunction to the immediate supervisor.
• Maintaining records of work orders and logs.
• Performing support tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• The person holding the position should preferably have a technical degree in maintenance. Secondary studies are necessary.
• The candidate should have at least four years of experience occupying a similar position or performing similar activities.
• The person holding the position must comply with established safety standards.
• The candidate should be available to roll shifts and work on weekends and holidays, as indicated by their immediate supervisor.
• The selected person must show a sense of urgency and commitment to their responsibilities and deadlines.
• The person selected must demonstrate the following competencies: Critical thinking, Communication, Teamwork, Customer orientation, Problem-solving, and Decision-making.
