CIMMYT is a cutting-edge, non-profit, international organization dedicated to solving tomorrow's problems today. It is entrusted with fostering improved quantity, quality, and dependability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millets, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, particularly in the Global South, through building strong partnerships. This combination enhances the livelihood trajectories and resilience of millions of residents and farmers. The organization is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Buyer to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and international trade. The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing and procuring goods and services for CIMMYT's programs and projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. The Buyer will also be responsible for negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and have a strong understanding of international trade and logistics. The Buyer will be based in Mexico City, Mexico, and will be required to travel occasionally to CIMMYT's offices and project sites. The Buyer will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. The Buyer will be required to maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and payment records. The Buyer will also be responsible for ensuring that all procurement activities are in compliance with CIMMYT's policies and procedures, as well as any applicable laws and regulations. The Buyer will be expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. The Buyer will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Buyer will be expected to be flexible and adaptable, and be able to work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment. The Buyer will be required to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, logistics, or international trade, and at least 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or international trade. The Buyer will be expected to have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively in a multicultural environment, and have a strong understanding of international trade and logistics. The Buyer will be required to be fluent in English and have a strong understanding of Spanish. The Buyer will be expected to be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. The Buyer will be required to maintain accurate and detailed records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and payment records.
