The Opportunity:
Hunter New England LHD is seeking an experienced Consultant/Staff Specialist/VMO (General Practice – Obstetrics) to provide locum coverage across regional maternity services.
You’ll provide antenatal care, procedural obstetrics, and GP sessions while participating in the local on-call roster.

Hunter New England LHD is seeking an experienced Consultant/Staff Specialist/VMO (General Practice – Obstetrics) to provide locum coverage across regional maternity services.
You’ll provide antenatal care, procedural obstetrics, and GP sessions while participating in the local on-call roster.
Clinical Environment:
- GP clinics, shared birthing unit on-call, and obstetric support
- Midwifery-led units with escalation and retrieval protocols
- Strong community engagement and rural team culture
- Opportunities for repeat bookings and extended locums
Eligibility Criteria:
- AHPRA Registration
- FRACGP or FACRRM with DRANZCOG
- Recent experience in procedural GP Obstetrics
- ALS2 and NSW Working with Children Check
Location & Lifestyle:
Based across the Hunter New England LHD, locations may include:
- Inverell, Tamworth, Armidale, Narrabri, Gunnedah, Tenterfield, or surrounds
