Localization Manager - Shopify / DTC Ecom 100%
Job description
You don't just want to manage translations — you want to be the reason why a market works. You care about the entire local experience: from visibility in search to checkout compliance, and up to conversion performance. Clean localization, technically clean implementations, and measurable market growth are your claim, not a side show. Then you could soon be our new Localization Manager (m/w/d) at SHEKO.
About SHEKO
As an online shop started, we are today one of the fastest-growing Health & Nutrition Brands in Germany – with Balance Shakes, Collagen, Probiotics, and Supplements that stand in dm, Rossmann, and Müller. Owner-managed, profitable, with real growth ahead.
Tasks
Language & Content
- Responsibility for the translation quality of all shop contents – on-brand and at a native language level. Machine translation is fine as a starting point, but the end result must never sound like that.
- Self-responsible maintenance of all market-specific pages, PDPs, blog contents, and campaign assets
- Steering the collaboration with local translators or translation tools (Translate & Adapt, T-Lab, etc.)
Technical SEO
- Implementation and maintenance of Hreflang tags, localized meta-data, and URL structures per market
- Local keyword research – the search behavior differs by market, not just linguistically
- Management of the Google Search Console per market and proactive monitoring for crawl or indexing problems
- Safeguarding that sitemaps cover all localized URLs and canonical tags are correctly set
Shopify Markets & Tech Stack
- Self-responsible configuration of Shopify Markets – domains, languages, currencies, and prices per market
- Audit and maintenance of all theme translations including system strings (Checkout, Cart, error messages)
- Management of geolocation logic and redirect behavior with a view to UX and SEO crawlability
- Compatibility audit of apps per market – many apps break if markets are configured
Payments & Prices
- Safeguarding that all relevant local payment methods are active and correctly displayed
- Management of currency representation, rounding rules, and market-specific prices
- Responsibility for the correct tax representation (including vs. excluding VAT) according to local statutory requirements
Law & Compliance
- Maintenance of localized legal pages – AGB, data protection statement, revocation – adapted to local requirements
- Self-responsible cookie consent configuration per market
- Proactive flagging of customs, import costs, or consumer rights issues that must be communicated to customers
Analytics & Reporting
- Monitoring of market-specific performance in GA4 – CVR, bounce rate, revenue per session
- Proactive recognition of localization problems before they become conversion problems
Qualification
We are looking for someone who or which takes end-to-end responsibility and works actively at the interface between language, technology, and commercial success. What matters most to us is what you can move in practice.
Must-haves:
- Experience in localizing Shopify shops, ideally across multiple markets
- Solid understanding of Shopify Markets – domains, currencies, and market-specific configurations
- Technical SEO knowledge – Hreflang, canonical tags, sitemaps, GSC
- Fluent German and/or English skills; knowledge of further market languages is a clear plus
- Experience in dealing with translation tools or agencies and quality control of translations on a larger scale
- Familiarity with local payment methods, tax representation rules, and compliance requirements per market
- Analytical thinking – safe handling of GA4 and the ability to link localization decisions to performance metrics
- Structured, independent working style with an eye for detail
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with tools like Translate & Adapt, T-Lab, or similar localization platforms
- Background in DTC-E-commerce or subscription brands
- Experience with A/B testing in localized environments
- Knowledge of the GDPR and market-specific data protection or consumer protection requirements
Benefits
- Real design freedom: Flat hierarchies, open feedback culture, and the opportunity to actively shape a growing company
- Personal development: We develop career goals together that fit you – professionally and personally
- Strong team: Hands-on mentality, enormous cohesion, and a culture where mutual support is self-evident
- Modern office: Well-being factor in Hamburg-Winterhude, centrally located near the beautiful Mühlenkamp in Alsternähe. Dress code? Come as you feel most comfortable
- The basics: Water, tea, coffee & shake-flat, regular team events, and legendary company parties
Sounds like you?
Then apply – with your resume and preferably examples from markets or localization projects where you worked. We look forward to seeing you!
