Lines Design Engineer

Job description

PPHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Lines Design Engineer (EIT) or Intermediate Lines Design Engineer to join our growing team. Responsibilities: * Prepare detailed engineering designs for overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines. * Perform calculations and analysis for line design, including sag and tension, conductor selection, and structure loading. * Develop construction drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOM). * Collaborate with project managers, other engineers, and designers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. * Conduct site visits to gather data, assess existing conditions, and provide construction support. * Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., CSA, IEEE, NESC). * Review and approve drawings and calculations prepared by other team members. * Assist in the preparation of proposals and reports. * Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. * Junior Engineer: EIT (Engineer in Training) status or eligibility. * Intermediate Engineer: P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) designation or eligibility. * Experience in the design of overhead and/or underground power lines is an asset. * Proficiency in PLS-CADD or similar line design software is an asset. * Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, NESC). * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Valid driver's license.
