Job description

Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

Location: Newcastle
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £89–£110 per day (PAYE – no umbrella faff)

You’re the calm in the chaos. The steady hand. The one who sees beyond the behaviour.
If that sounds like you, we’ve got a school that’ll value every bit of it.

We’re working with a brilliant specialist setting in Newcastle looking for a Level 3 TA to join their team this September. The school supports children and young people aged 3–16 with a mix of additional needs—from complex learning difficulties to autism and SEMH. It's a warm, purpose-built place where aspiration, kindness, and real care come first.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups across Primary and/or Secondary

  • Helping learners build confidence, communication, and independence

  • Using therapeutic strategies and de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation

  • Collaborating with a fab team of teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent care

You’ll need:
  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with SEND (e.g. ASD, SEMH, PMLD, complex needs)

  • Confidence with PECS, Makaton, or sensory approaches

  • A calm, encouraging nature with great behaviour support skills

Perks of working through Protocol Education:
  • Weekly pay (PAYE – we keep it simple)

  • Free Thrive training via our CPD Academy

  • A local consultant who actually listens and puts your preferences first

  • Long-term roles where you’ll feel genuinely part of the team

Not Thrive trained yet? We’ll cover it for free. It’s a brilliant way to boost your confidence in SEND settings—and schools love it. Just ask us how to get started.

Apply now to join a school where your skills really matter.
