Letter of Credit officer - Trade finance
Job description
We are currently seeking, on behalf of one of our clients, a Letter of Credit Specialist to join their Trade Finance Operations team.
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and processing the Bank’s Letter of Credit portfolio, including the issuance, confirmation, and advising of Standby/Guarantees and Import/Export Letters of Credit.
This role requires fluency in English (oral and written). French language skills are considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all Letter of Credit transactions comply with client instructions, UCP 600/ISP98 regulations, and the Bank’s internal credit and compliance procedures.
Process sensitive transactions promptly and report any unusual or complex cases requiring management review or approval.
Provide technical support and guidance to internal clients on Letter of Credit practices and regulations.
Prepare and execute Letter of Credit documentation using TI+, Microsoft Word, or ACBS as required.
Manage inquiries, discrepancies, and document resolutions through proactive follow-ups and correspondence with all relevant parties until completion.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation within each LC file, including executed copies, amendments, and compliance checklists.
Ensure timely disbursement of funds and proper recording of transactions in the Bank’s accounting system (ACBS).
Process and verify all related SWIFT messages accurately.
RequirementsCandidate Profile
Education:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
Post-secondary education in Finance, Business, or a related field is an asset.
Experience and Technical Skills:
Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Commercial Letters of Credit and/or Guarantees within Trade Finance.
Strong knowledge of UCP 600, ISP 98, and URDG 758.
Familiarity with regulatory guidelines such as OFAC, sanctions, and anti-boycott compliance.
Working knowledge of SWIFT.
Knowledge of Standby LCs and Syndicated LCs is an asset.
CDCS certification preferred.
Experience with ACBS and TI+ (Trade Innovations) systems an advantage.

Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (40-hour workweek, 1-hour lunch).
Flexibility required during peak periods or non-standard hours.
Hybrid work schedule (3 days on-site, 2 days remote).
Calendar/Holidays: Follows U.S. schedule.
