Veterinary Surgeon for Livestock in Ireland (mixed clinic)

Do you love working outdoors and veterinary medicine with a focus on livestock? The Vet Office is seeking veterinary surgeons for livestock to work in clinics and farms across Ireland.

Job Information

• Permanent employment in mixed clinics with a main focus on livestock (cows, sheep etc.).

• Working hours: Monday to Friday (occasional on-call duties depending on the clinic).

• Salary: 40 000 - 75 000, depending on experience.

• Location: various regions of Ireland (rural and semi-rural areas).

Duties

• Clinical and prophylactic care for livestock.

• Surgical procedures in the field: caesarean sections, sheep shearing, foaling etc.

• TB testing (bovine tuberculosis tests) and other health programs.

• Reproduction: examinations, assistance with births, fertility.

• Farm visits, emergency cases, advisory services for farmers.

• Occasional work with companion animals depending on the clinic.

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and ability to register in Ireland.

• Experience working with livestock (preferably mixed experience).

• Driving license (most offers include a company car).

• Skill in performing caesarean sections, TB testing, field visits etc.

• Good level of English language skills. For registration in Ireland, Cambridge C1 or IELTS equivalent is usually required.

Desirable

• Independence in field surgeries and safe handling of animals.

• Good communication skills and teamwork.

• Elasticity during periods of increased workload (births, TB campaigns etc.).
