Head of Group Controlling (m/f/d)

Our client is an established, broadly diversified corporate group with several operating divisions and several thousand employees. The group, which has grown heterogeneously over decades, is currently realigning itself as part of a group-wide transformation program, moving from an organization oriented towards legal entities towards a market and performance-oriented matrix organization with divisions and group functions. The core is a group-wide steering model that makes operational and financial value drivers measurable through steering KPIs, technically supported by a harmonized system landscape with a single source of truth. For the Group Function Controlling, we are seeking the Head of Group Controlling as part of an exclusive mandate.

Responsibilities

Implementation of the group-wide steering model with uniform controlling standards, KPI systems (including ROCE, OFCF) and consistent reporting structures

Responsibility for the group-wide planning and steering processes: strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, plan-actual analyses, and measure tracking

Further development of controlling governance with binding standards, reporting obligations, and clear responsibilities within the group

Expansion of group-wide business partnering in the operating divisions for uniform performance steering and consistent management information

Provision of decision-making bases tailored to the audience for the Executive Board, CFO, and other management levels

Cost, investment, and profitability controlling, including economic feasibility assessments as well as opportunity and risk analyses

Further development of controlling processes, data models, and system landscape with a focus on automation, data quality, and transparency

Disciplinary and functional leadership of the Group Controlling, Investment Controlling, and Systems, Processes, and Data Management teams

Qualifications

Successfully completed business studies with a focus on Controlling or Finance, or a comparable qualification

Several years of in-depth management experience in controlling, ideally in matrix and corporate structures with disciplinary and functional responsibility

Experience in the further development of controlling organizations, target operating models, or decentralized business partner structures, ideally in a transformation context

Knowledge of value-oriented steering logics such as ROCE or Free Cash Flow and their connection to operational steering

Very good knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, ideally supplemented by BI and reporting solutions as well as integrated planning processes

Several years of experience in consulting, preferably as an auditor with a Big Four firm

Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to not only conceptualize changes but also to anchor them within the organization

Fluent in German and English
