Job description
JEWLIF is a dynamic, non-profit, and pan-societal institution dedicated to the representation and strengthening of Jewish life in Europe. With our mission to promote pan-European, societal, and interreligious exchange, enrich political and media discourse, and strengthen civil society engagement, we offer a unique platform for ambitious talents. Together, we are committed to fostering understanding, solidarity, and respect through innovative projects. Thanks to institutional funding from the BMI by resolution of the Bundestag, we offer you long-term career prospects.
Responsibilities
As Head of Communications, you will give a voice to Jewish life in Europe. You will be responsible for our external representation, develop strategic communication concepts, and implement them effectively – from press relations to digital channels, campaigns, and merchandising. As a central point of contact, you will work closely with the Secretary-General and the committees and support all areas of the institution's work.

- Strategy: You will develop and implement strategic communication concepts across all channels – print, visual, and online.
- Operational Management: You will manage all JEWLIF communication processes (corporate and work areas).
- Consulting: You will support and advise the Secretary-General and the committees on all communication matters.
Campaigns & Content
- Press Relations: You will be responsible for classic press relations, thereby strengthening the institution and all internal departments.
- Campaigns: You will plan and execute PR, information, and marketing campaigns.
- Editorial: You will write and edit articles and be responsible for our monthly newsletter.
Digital Communication
- Website: You will keep our website lively and ensure that Jewish life remains visible online.
- Social Media: You will manage our social media channels and continuously develop them.
Marketing & Merchandising
- Materials & Text: You will develop and maintain marketing and merchandising materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, print materials) and be responsible for creating appropriate texts for all work areas.
Network & Contacts
- Network: You will expand and maintain the network of media representatives and continuously update press distribution lists.
Resources & Budget
- Management: You will manage suppliers and external contractors.
- Budget: You will be responsible for budget and resource management, observing the principles of economic efficiency (according to BHO).
Qualifications
- Completed university degree in communication studies, journalism, politics, or a comparable field.
- In-depth experience in press and public relations, ideally in a leadership role.
- Sound knowledge of Jewish life and an existing network within the Jewish community in Germany, ideally also in Europe.
- Proven experience in a public or politically influenced environment.
- Ability to develop and confidently convey clear and effective messages.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving competence.
- Fluent in German and English; further language skills are an advantage.
