As part of the establishment of a new department within the Grids division, we are looking for a
Head of Grid Development 80-100%
Your Mission
In this role, you will be responsible for steering and coordinating the strategic development of the Valais high-voltage (HV) grid. You will assume strategic asset management for this grid, responsibility for coordinating grid connections in the high-voltage sector, and contractual aspects.
Embedded within the Grids division, you will ensure the leadership and further development of the area. You will consistently align the department with strategic grid development and the project portfolio. You will plan and develop the necessary resources, specifically foster the competence development of employees – particularly in the area of asset management – actively participate in the Grids Directorate, and directly support the Head of Division.
You will ensure close coordination with various stakeholders such as Swissgrid, Valgrid, distribution system operators, producers, industrial partners, customers, and authorities. You will manage the further development of the high-voltage grid with a focus on security of supply and the long-term integration of necessary strategic capacities.
Your other tasks include leading studies related to grid development, monitoring connection requests, and managing connection and grid usage agreements. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing agreements related to simple partnerships for key assets.
Your Profile
- ETH/FH engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification, ideally with an EMBA
- At least 5–7 years of experience in the development and strategic asset management of electricity grids
- Sound leadership experience
- Experience in the field of high-voltage grids is an advantage
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary high-voltage projects
- Very good communication and negotiation skills
- Strong leadership competence and sense of responsibility
- Organizational and planning skills (initiative, proactivity, foresight)
- Resilience, reliability, and flexibility
- Native French or German speaker with very good knowledge of the other language (Level C1), as well as very good English skills (Level C1)
