Legal Director

We’re hiring our next Legal Director – Mexico! At Chobani , we are looking for a Legal Director for Mexico who will work closely with our US Legal team as well as local and regional leadership. This role reports directly to the Global Chief Legal Officer and plays a key role in ensuring alignment between business strategy, regulatory requirements, and risk management. Key Responsibilities Act as a legal business partner to senior leadership, enabling informed, high-impact decision-making. Lead the development of legal strategies that support the company’s growth and expansion plans in Mexico, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations. Collaborate with the US Legal team to develop and implement global policies and procedures that align with local market needs. Provide expert advice on legal matters related to business operations, contracts, and risk management. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry partners. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in Mexico, including labor laws, tax laws, and data privacy regulations. Identify and mitigate potential risks and liabilities associated with the company’s operations in Mexico. Provide training and guidance to local teams on legal matters and best practices. Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to ensure effective risk management and compliance. Foster a culture of compliance within the organization by promoting ethical behavior and encouraging employees to report any concerns or issues. Key Requirements Bachelor's degree in Law (JD) or equivalent. Minimum 8 years of experience as an in-house counsel, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong understanding of Mexican laws and regulations, including labor laws, tax laws, and data privacy regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
