Legal Counsel: Renewable Energy Projects Location: Cape Town Work Model: Hybrid Employment Type: Permanent Market-related Package An established, international renewable energy developer with a growing footprint in Southern Africa is seeking a Project-Focused Legal Counsel to support the full lifecycle of large-scale energy projects. This role is suited to a commercially astute legal professional who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and is comfortable operating across development stages from project conception to commissioning. The ideal candidate will have experience in renewable energy law, with a strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing the sector. Key responsibilities will include: • Providing legal advice on project development, financing, construction, and operation; • Reviewing and negotiating contracts for land acquisition, equipment supply, and services; • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures; • Collaborating with external parties, including government agencies, lenders, and contractors; • Developing and implementing legal strategies to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes. The successful candidate will be a qualified attorney with at least 5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector or a related field. A Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent is required. Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in Afrikaans or another local language an advantage.
