Job description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We seek to hire an ambitious early-career scholar whose work advances understanding of innovation from a strategic perspective in times of digital and societal transformation.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose research programmes complement those in the Innovation and Strategy disciplinary area with fresh perspectives on how businesses can adapt, innovate, and create long-term value.

Areas of particular interest include:

  • How emerging technologies (e.g. generative AI) shape/reshape innovation processes and ecosystems - with particular attention to their implications for strategic decision-making under uncertainty, organisational learning, and resilience in business and society.
  • Sustainable and responsible innovation research in the context of technological change - including digital transformation, circular economy models, and strategies that address societal challenges and ensure equitable outcomes.

We value candidates whose research has potential for both academic and societal impact. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to publish in top generalist and/or specialist disciplinary journals as part of a balanced publication portfolio.

We value candidates whose teaching integrates research in ways that engage and equip students to tackle complex strategic challenges. Waipapa Taumata Rau: the University of Auckland’s Teachwell framework outlines good teaching practice. This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), permanent position.
