Job description

Lead Supply Quality Engineer

About the role

We're looking for an expert Lead Supply Quality Engineer to take responsibility for ensuring every component in our client's supply chain is delivered with high quality and on time. Their hardware manufacturing is accelerating quickly to satisfy growing global markets, and it's vital that every component shipped to their contract manufacturers in Asia is ready for the tough environment it will face once assembled.
If you are an expert in implementing and managing quality systems to catch issues early, resolve them quickly, and ensure high-quality components are always delivered on-time, this role is for you.

What your day could look like
  • Drive rapid improvement through process optimization and clear documentation after identifying a poorly controlled assembly process at a supplier.
  • Update and implement quality control documentation to protect against future failures based on a root cause analysis that identified a component issue.
  • Implement statistical process control methods for critical parts of a component's assembly process and work with the supplier to ensure this is reflected in their process control plan.
  • After a failure during IQC (Inward Quality Control) inspections at a contract manufacturer, run a rapid sprint analysis with design engineers to unblock the release of a shipment and keep production running.
  • Audit the implementation of our client's quality requirements at a new supplier and work with them to quickly close any non-conformances you find.
Who we’re looking for
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management for high-volume manufacturing, with a preference for consumer electronics or similar electromechanical products.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a similar field is highly desired.
  • Supplier quality experience in consumer electronics or a similar field (e.g., industrial electronics).
  • A deep understanding of electronics assembly processes and mechanical part manufacturing.
  • Expertise in supplier performance management and issue resolution, with familiarity in 8D or 5D issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively review and statistically analyze production data from OQC (Outward Quality Control) and IQC.
  • Proven experience in responding to and resolving quality issues rapidly to minimize production disruption.
  • Hands-on experience in making improvements and actionable changes at factories and/or suppliers.
  • Willing to travel regularly (25%+ of the year).
  • Someone who will thrive in a close team environment and can work well in a self-directed and demanding startup atmosphere.
  • A nice-to-have would be an ISO/TS auditor certification.
