Lead Software Engineer - Paris

Job Overview:

Within Artefact's technical team, you will join a community of Software Engineers as a Manager and technical referent for our major clients. In an environment of high acceleration in Data and Generative AI, you will lead complex engineering projects, mentor teams, and drive operational and technical excellence.

What we expect from you:

As a Manager, you will oversee the design and deployment of critical architectures (Data Platforms, Agentic Platforms) while ensuring the coaching, mentoring, and career development of team members. You will play a key role in client relations, technical scoping of business opportunities, and the outreach of Artefact's tech community.

Your responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the execution of complex Data & AI projects (e.g., LangGraph multi-agent solutions on Kubernetes, Medallion architectures).
• Oversee the scoping and construction of robust Data Platforms on GCP, AWS, Azure, or Snowflake, ensuring alignment with best practices in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and software engineering.
• Define the technical vision for GenAI / LLM projects (orchestration, evaluation, control) and promote the daily use of coding agents within teams.
• Ensure career management, performance monitoring, and continuous mentoring of Software Engineers under your responsibility.
• Conduct technical scoping with major clients and pedagogically defend strategic and architectural choices.
• Ensure adherence to code quality standards, security, and deliverables across all your application scopes.
• Actively contribute to the animation of the technical community (Tech Talks, Guilds, REX - Return on Experience) and participate in the recruitment and skill development process of the practice.

Candidate profile:

• Experience & Leadership: Proven experience as a Lead / Engineering Manager or Senior Architect, having previously managed technical teams and led strategic projects.
• Problem Solving: Strong technical intuition and ability to translate complex business challenges into sustainable technical architectures.
• Management & Mentoring: A benevolent, pedagogical, and exemplary posture, comfortable with growing talent, providing constructive feedback, and leading a team.
• Specializations (at least 1): Proven expertise in Analytics Engineering, Software Development, SRE, Cloud Architecture, or AI Engineering.
• Technical Stack: Advanced mastery of the tech ecosystem (Python, FastAPI, dbt, LangGraph, Docker, Terraform, GCP, AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Kubernetes).

Recruitment process:

• HR Interview (30-45 min): Discussion about your background, managerial skills, and cultural fit with a Talent Acquisition Specialist.
• Technical Deep Dive (60 min): Live coding and system design architecture session with a Senior Engineering Lead based in France.
• US / Manager Interview (60 min): Discussion with a Director / Partner to assess managerial and operational fit, and client-facing posture.

Compensation: Package: €75,000 to €85,000 gross annual salary (fixed) + €8,000 variable, depending on experience and seniority.
