As a Lead Product Engineer, you are a central part of MEONDI Frontier Services and will shape with us how we technically conceive and implement new products. You will bring the technical perspective to important decisions from the outset and take responsibility for the consequences of these decisions.
You will not be working in a pre-defined role with clearly defined tasks. You will actively shape the technical side of our product business, set standards, make architectural decisions, and build yourself. If we scale successfully with our products, your area of responsibility will also grow.
You combine sound software engineering with a practical understanding of AI products and agentic systems. You know where AI can be used effectively, where classic software logic remains necessary, and how both come together to create stable, scalable, and economically viable products.

Additional willingness to travel is required and depends on the respective customer project. Depending on the project, you will work regularly and possibly several days a week on-site with the customer. Remote work is generally possible, provided that the respective project and customer requirements allow it. Furthermore, you should be prepared to be present regularly at MEONDI, especially in the Stuttgart area, and to participate in internal MEONDI events as well as community meetings.

Your Tasks

• Assess technical feasibility: Evaluate opportunities early on regarding architecture, risks, effort, and implementability.
• Take technical responsibility: Translate product specifications into viable technical solutions and make central architectural decisions.
• Hands-on software development: Build productive software yourself – from frontend to backend and data management, to interfaces and operations.
• Ensure production readiness: Consider stability, scalability, security, DevOps, observability, maintainability, and operations from the beginning.
• Transfer prototypes into products: Technically contextualize rapid validations and develop robust, long-term viable systems from them.
• Develop AI-native software systems: Understand where AI is used effectively, where classic software logic remains necessary, and how both come together to create stable products.
• Advance AI-powered software development: Practically apply modern coding agents and new engineering approaches, critically evaluate them, and integrate them meaningfully into development work.
• Shape engineering standards: Co-build architecture principles, tooling, development processes, and quality standards for Frontier Services.

What you bring

• You have a proven track record with software used in production.
• You have already taken responsibility for software and know the requirements that arise from it in real-world operation.
• You have experience in a product environment or a comparable situation with real skin in the game for the quality, benefit, and operation of the software.
• You can independently structure open and incompletely defined problems, develop solutions, and determine the right next steps.
• You cannot hide behind large teams or narrowly defined tickets, but rather take ownership of the result.
• You possess strong full-stack understanding and can develop complete applications independently.
• You are confident in the fundamentals of modern software development – from databases, APIs, and architecture to testing, cloud, deployment, security, and operations.
• You have practical experience with LLMs, AI agents, and AI-based applications and understand how they interact with classic software logic.
• You productively use coding agents and AI-powered development tools and can realistically assess their capabilities and limitations.
• You combine high quality standards with pragmatism. You avoid both over-engineering and short-term solutions whose consequences others will have to bear later.
• You enjoy working hands-on and validate technical decisions in code and in real systems.
• English: very good, business fluent skills.
• German: a clear advantage, but not a prerequisite.

No specific degree required. Technical judgment, practical experience, and the ability to develop productive software holistically are crucial. A technical degree can be helpful, but is not a prerequisite.
