Lead Developer Java Backend (m/f/d)

We are currently looking for a Lead Developer Java Backend (m/f/d) for one of our clients.

• Project Location: Nuremberg, Remote

• Period: October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027

• Work Mix: 90% Remote (only possible in Germany)

YOUR MISSION

The project involves further developing a harmonized IT platform, ensuring modern software architecture, DevSecOps principles, and a high-performance container and deployment infrastructure.

The tasks in detail:

• Conception and further development of mission-critical software and IT application architectures

• Technical leadership and support for project and development teams

• Maintenance and further development of existing components and Java backend solutions

• Support with cross-functional software architecture and security topics, as well as coordination with technical and business architects

• Administration, maintenance, and further development of the Kubernetes-based container platform

• Technical second and third-level support, including error analysis and resolution

• Deployment, maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management

• Implementation of security updates and security scans

• Enablement of new DevSecOps teams and support with cross-functional container platform topics

• Support with integration, testing, and quality assurance

• Organization and participation in Communities of Practice (CoPs) and follow-up on results

MUST-HAVES FOR THIS POSITION

• Several years of experience as a Lead Developer in Java backend environments, as well as in the conception and further development of complex software architectures

• Very good knowledge of J(2)EE/EJB/Servlets, multi-tier applications, object-oriented software design and modeling (OOA/OOD, UML), MDA, and TDD/DDD

• In-depth knowledge of EJB containers and application servers (Oracle WebLogic, Payara), Spring, Hibernate/EclipseLink/JPA 2, Java tools (e.g., Maven, JUnit), as well as relational databases (especially Oracle) and SQL

• Experience with data migration, legacy integration, and common testing concepts (unit, performance, E2E tests)

• Knowledge of version and configuration management, as well as Jira and Confluence

• Specialist knowledge in DevSecOps, especially Kubernetes administration, as well as experience with container technologies

• Specialist knowledge or in-depth knowledge of GoLang, JavaScript, Kafka, S3, Quarkus, Oracle-DB, WebComponents (Angular, DPL, Stencil), XML, JSON, and PACT

• Specialist knowledge in Jira and Confluence, as well as in-depth knowledge of JUnit, Karate/Cucumber, Consumer Driven Contract, LuP, and E2E tests

• In-depth knowledge of CI/CD with GitHub, Nexus, and Tekton, as well as experience with Jenkins

• Experience with DevOps methodologies and agile methods like Scrum and Kanban, as well as with Clean Code Development and Pair Programming

• Knowledge of secure software development, especially regarding potential security risks, Secure Design Principles & Patterns, and Secure Coding

• Experience in technical team leadership, consulting, and coaching, as well as in collaboration with architecture and development teams
