Lead Automation Engineer

Job Description Summary The Lead Automation Engineer is responsible for industrializing and sustaining automation and robotic solutions to improve process repeatability, quality, and productivity across the repair facility. This role provides technical leadership in deploying industrial robots, collaborative robots (cobots), and other automation methods to enable consistent and reliable repair processes. The engineer will collaborate with AMRT (Advanced Manufacturing & Repair Technology) and cross-functional teams to develop and implement automation solutions that meet business objectives. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining automation strategies and roadmaps for the repair facility, in collaboration with stakeholders. • Designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions using industrial robots, cobots, and other technologies. • Collaborating with process owners and subject matter experts to identify areas for automation and developing proposals for implementation. • Providing technical guidance and support to automation technicians and engineers. • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. • Developing and maintaining documentation of automation systems, including programming languages, software, and hardware configurations. • Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotics and automation technologies and applying this knowledge to improve processes and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science) and at least 5 years of experience in automation engineering, robotics, or a related field. Strong understanding of industrial robots, cobots, and other automation technologies is required. Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB is an asset. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders is essential. • Certification in robotics or automation engineering (e.g., Certified Robotics Engineer) is considered an asset.
