Lead AI Engineer (w/m/d)

Our client, a specialized provider of generative KI solutions, supports companies with tailored trainings, consultations, and implementations to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence into their business processes – strategically, practically, and effectively.

Your Role
As Lead AI Engineer, you will take technical responsibility for complex KI projects. You will develop not only solutions with Large Language Models (LLMs), Agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), but also design the architecture, set standards, and accompany customers on a strategic level. Your expertise combines coding, consulting, and leadership.

Tasks

• Technical leadership of projects in the area of Generative AI – from architecture design to rollout
• Development and scaling of production-ready applications with LLMs, Agents, and RAG
• Setting up and controlling workflows with LangChain, Haystack, FastAPI, vector databases, etc.
• Defining best practices for prompt strategies, toolkits, and interface solutions
• Integration into modern cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Closely working with KI coaches, developers, and customer teams – including mentoring juniors
• Ensuring compliance with EU AI Act, data protection, and Responsible AI

Qualification

• Multiple years of experience in developing LLM-based or KI-supported applications
• In-depth Python knowledge, confident handling frameworks like LangChain, Haystack, FastAPI
• Experience in building multi-agent architectures and vector databases
• Knowledge in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) and API integration
• Understanding of scaling, architecture decisions, and security/compliance (EU AI Act, Responsible AI)
• Very good German language skills in writing and speaking – confident in presentation & consulting -> applications in English will not be processed!
• Communication strength, leadership skills, and joy in leading projects and people
• Residence in the Munich or Berlin area, as 1 day of office presence per week is assumed
