Job description

Description

What do you do?

Do you feel like working in an environment that is just a little bit different? As a medical technologist laboratory technician, you will work in the Military Hospital Queen Astrid (MHKA). Here you are responsible for analyses and follow-up in the field of biochemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, bacteriology, immunohematology, industrial toxicology and drug monitoring. In addition, you are responsible for the daily maintenance and quality testing of your equipment. Sometimes your job becomes extra challenging during a mission abroad where you will work under more difficult conditions. No work experience is required for this job.

You find this completely appealing:

Working in the Military Hospital in Neder-Over-Heembeek. Performing analyses. Collaborating in a team of specialists. Participating in exercises and missions at home and abroad. Following additional training and education.

This is what you recognize yourself in:

You want to work in a hospital. You are looking for adventure in your job, but administrative tasks do not scare you either. You have a “Can do” mentality. You have an eye for detail and you like thorough work. You want to develop new skills that are specific to the military world. You have the following diploma: bachelor biomedical laboratory technology and regional agreement and federal visa medical laboratory technologist (MLT).

Responsibilities

With the experience you have built up in your current position, you can take on new challenges.
Your growth process partly depends on your own initiative, acquired competencies and enthusiasm. You will also be prepared for a management position through continuing education, seminars and exercises. This results in obtaining a higher rank within the defense with additional responsibilities and higher remuneration.

Qualifications

Military basic training (MBV)

This training in a training camp in Belgium takes about 5 months and starts with a military initiation phase, where you work on your physical condition and learn basic military skills. This is followed by basic training for managers. During this period you will be in a boarding school.

Specialized professional training (GPV)

At the Competence Center of the Medical Service in Neder-Over-Heembeek, you will learn about the organization and operation of military medical support during a five-week training.

Internship and/or evaluation period

Now you can really get started at your workplace in the military hospital, first under supervision and then independently.
