Kubernetes Platform Engineering Team Lead

Kraków | hybrid – 6 days a month from the office B2B via Antal For our client from the banking sector, we are looking for an experienced person for the position of Kubernetes Platform Engineering Team Lead. This is an offer for someone who wants to remain hands-on technically, while also fulfilling the role of a local team leader. You will work on the development and maintenance of a global, large-scale Kubernetes platform, used by the organization's internal teams. The team is currently developing its approach from classic DevOps towards Platform Engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability, and reducing manual operations. Scope of responsibility: end-to-end engineering and lifecycle management of the Kubernetes platform, development of tools and automation for managing infrastructure and services, automation of repetitive operational tasks and BAU processes, development of Platform Operations and improvement of platform management methods, increasing the reliability and quality of the environment, improving Kubernetes cluster and service upgrade processes, monitoring and optimizing performance and resource utilization, capacity planning, development of dashboards and observability solutions, problem detection and creation of self-healing mechanisms, production environment troubleshooting, technical support for development teams, participation in consultations regarding system design and platform management, technical support for the local, 5-person team, cooperation with the global Engineering Team Lead and teams in other locations. What are we looking for? Minimum 5 years of practical experience in Kubernetes administration, especially in production environments, very good knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, and the K8s ecosystem, experience with technologies such as Istio, Ingress, Cilium, CSI / container storage, very good knowledge of Linux, particularly filesystem and networking, experience in managing and maintaining production environments, skills in automating infrastructure using Python and/or Golang and Bash, experience with Ansible, Jenkins, and Git, knowledge of observability tools – the environment uses, among others, Splunk and Datadog, knowledge of ITIL processes, experience in solving problems related to infrastructure performance, reliability, and availability, experience in mentoring or technically leading other engineers, very good communication and ability to work in a global environment, knowledge of English enabling free business communication. An additional advantage will be experience with large-scale, multi-tenant enterprise Kubernetes environments, knowledge of the HTTP protocol, experience with storage: SAN/iSCSI and NAS/NFS, knowledge of VMware vSphere, certifications related to Kubernetes or containerization, e.g., CKA, experience in Platform Engineering / SRE / Cloud Infrastructure. Work organization The Platform Engineering team is global and operates in several locations, including Poland, UK, India, and China. Standardly, work is carried out during Polish business hours, however, due to the global nature of the platform, some flexibility is required regarding support for environments operating in different time zones. After the implementation period, the role also involves participation in infrastructure changes carried out on weekends in a follow-the-sun model – currently about 2 weekends per month. One of the team's goals is the further automation of these processes, so that with the development of the platform, the need for weekend work is reduced.
