This is what you will do

As a Corporal ICT/CIS, you are a necessary link in ground communication and communication between ground and air systems. You will work with equipment related to telecommunications, automation, and ground-based radar and air traffic control systems. The activities as a Corporal ICT/CIS can be divided into activities at the airbase and activities related to deployment.

Activities at the airbase:

• Maintenance and testing of various different transmission means such as: Satellite communication systems, security systems, Microwave transmission systems, and radio systems.
• Maintenance and testing of materials related to the deployment of passive infrastructure, such as fiber optic cables and fiber optic repair and testing equipment.
• (Assisting with the) maintenance and testing of various permanently present communication systems at the airbase, such as the Voice Logging System (VLS). This system records all conversations between helicopters and air traffic control.
• Assisting the CIS specialist with network management related matters.

Activities related to deployment (missions/trainings abroad):

• Installation and maintenance of the necessary passive infrastructure in the form of laying various different types of cables (including fiber optic cables and UTP/STP).
• Installation and maintenance of various IT network components and end-user devices (including printers, IP phones, routers, and switches).
• Staffing a Front Office (communication center). This is where all questions, requests, and fault reports are received, which are then handled from here.

This is where you will work

You will work at one of the Air Force airbases. But before you start as a Corporal ICT/CIS, you will first complete the military training and the vocational training at the Royal Military School Air Force (KMSL) in Woensdrecht.
