What you will do

As a Corporal Medical Care, you will assist the doctor and nurse in the preparation and execution of their tasks. You will also maintain equipment and check medical supplies. You will work within the Operational Healthcare (OGZ) of the Centre for Man and Aviation (CML). The aim of the OGZ is to provide general medical support for Defence operations, including aerial evacuation. The OGZ consists, together with a small staff element, of about 100 enthusiastic and driven military personnel with a (specialist) medical background. As a Corporal Medical Care, you will work within the Operational Healthcare (OGZ) of the Centre for Man and Aviation (CML). The tasks of the OGZ include:

• Aeromedical Evacuation (aerial evacuation), by both aircraft and helicopter;
• Providing a Casual Staging Unit (CSU) (ground-air interface in the medical evacuation chain);
• Providing a Role 1 (field equivalent of a GP practice) with aeromedical capacity;

Depending on the current tasks of your organizational unit and the planning of operational deployment, you will carry out preparatory work. Such as:

• Assisting the doctor and nurse in the preparation and execution of their tasks;
• Performing driver duties;
• Maintaining equipment such as vehicles, tents for exercises and deployments;
• Checking medical supplies.

Where you will work

You will work within the Operational Healthcare (OGZ) of the Centre for Man and Aviation (CML). The OGZ consists, together with a small staff element, of about 100 enthusiastic and driven military personnel with a (specialist) medical background. Like any military personnel, you must take into account that you may be deployed. You will also participate in exercises in the Netherlands and abroad. But first, you will follow the General Military Training (AMO) of 13 weeks and the Technical Training (VTO) of 10 weeks at the Defence Healthcare Training and Education Centre (DGOTC) in Hollandsche Rading, at the Royal Netherlands Air Force Military School (KMSL) in Woensdrecht.

Once you have gained some experience, in consultation with your team leader and career counselor, possibilities for further training can be explored.
