Are you looking for a challenging job where you can be both a firefighter and a soldier? Then the position of Corporal Firefighter is the job for you.

What you will do

Together with your team, you will be on standby for every flight movement on the base. You will carry out rescue operations in emergencies and help pilots in distress situations on the ground. You will also respond to accidents involving hazardous materials and are of course responsible for fire prevention. In addition, the Royal Netherlands Air Force Fire Brigade is also deployed for major emergencies/fires in the civilian world. Part of your work takes place in the alarm center at the airbase. You will also assist in providing instruction and take care of your equipment. Due to all these important tasks, you must be in excellent condition and be able to work under great stress.

Where you will work

You will work in shifts at an airbase of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. These are located almost throughout the country, so you may end up at Leeuwarden Airbase, Woensdrecht, Eindhoven, Volkel, or Gilze-Rijen. However, before that, you will first complete an initial military training at the KMSL in Woensdrecht, followed by vocational training. Like every soldier, you must take into account that you may be deployed, in your own role or another role.

As a Corporal Firefighter, you can be deployed as a rescuer or as a driver during flight watch. When you progress to commander, you will lead your own team, directing them during a call-out and maintaining an overview.
