Do you like to get your hands dirty and enjoy working on vehicles? And do you also have (at least) an MBO diploma in the direction of Commercial Vehicle Technology, First Mechanic, or Mobile Mechanical Engineering? In the Air Force, you work as a soldier and a mechanic, ensuring our vehicles always keep running.

What you will do

As a Corporal Mechanic, you will perform maintenance and repairs on Air Force vehicles. Think of passenger cars, trucks, and off-road vehicles, but also tankers, runway sweepers, excavators, and fire trucks. These vehicles must be perfectly maintained. Under the leadership of the Non-Commissioned Officer Mechanic, it is up to you to ensure that all vehicles can be deployed throughout the Netherlands and on exercises and deployments.

Note: There are different start dates throughout the year. After applying, you will receive a personal application file, which includes a reporting date. Please note: this is a fictitious date and therefore incorrect. The start date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends on, among other things, the results of the fitness test, the psychological assessment, the medical examination, and the security screening, which are part of the application process. Once all these parts have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed.

Where you will work

You will work at an Air Force airbase: in Gilze-Rijen, Leeuwarden, Volkel, or Woensdrecht. You will participate in exercises and must take into account that you may be deployed.

Before you start working, you will follow the General Military Training (AMO) at the Royal Military School Air Force (KMSL) in Woensdrecht, followed by the Technical Vocational Training (VTO). After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Corporal Mechanic in the Army.

Please note: During the application process, you will be asked to provide three preferred locations. We will try to take these into account, but cannot guarantee that you will be placed at one of your preferred locations. This depends on the availability at the respective locations.
