Kufer Software develops software for educational institutions and, with over 1,900 customers, is one of the established providers in this market. Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important for us – in our products as well as in our daily work. For this, we are looking for someone full-time who can do both: develop AI solutions themselves and win over colleagues and product managers to actually use them.

AI Expert (m/f/d)
What awaits you:
- Integrate AI functions directly into our products: Chat and assistance functions, generative models, and automation based on customer data and course structures – from prototype development, through architecture, to productive operation, including prompt design, RAG setup, and evaluation
- Make technically sound decisions: Selection of model, infrastructure, and interface for each use case – based on our staged concept, with creative freedom in the specific implementation
- Support development teams in implementation: Pairing and code reviews for AI integrations, provision of reusable libraries, prompts, and patterns, contact person for technical questions regarding AI integration
- Monitor, analyze, and continuously develop AI systems in operation
- Develop use cases together with product teams and development
- Create understandable documentation and training materials for colleagues without an AI background
- Evaluate and assess current AI developments and identify which trends are relevant for a software company with sensitive customer data (including church organizations, public institutions)
What you should bring:
- Practical experience with AI models (e.g., NLP) as well as with GenAI/LLMs: Prompt engineering, RAG, API integration (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar) and a solid understanding of their limitations and error sources
- Solid programming skills, ideally in Python, NodeJS, Svelte, as well as confident handling of data and databases (SQL)
- Linux and Terminal are everyday tools for you, not a hurdle – our AI infrastructure runs on Linux servers
- Desirable: a feel for good UI/UX design
- Basic understanding of data protection and security requirements when handling AI and real customer data
- Strong communication skills, with which you can convey complex AI topics in a target-group-oriented manner to product managers, sales, and customer support
- Enjoy winning over colleagues to new technologies and actively supporting teams in their adoption
- Proactivity and curiosity beyond your own area of responsibility
- Very good German language skills, both written and spoken
- A relevant degree is welcome, but not a prerequisite – what you can do is decisive, not the title in front of it
- Experience with software for regulated or data-sensitive customers is a plus
- Ideally, you already have experience in establishing AI in established structures
