Were you in the military and have you been out of service for no more than five years? And are you considering returning to Defense? Then we encourage you to apply for this power job: as a Special Operations Commando in the Commando Corps (KCT), the Special Forces of the Army. Here you operate in utmost secrecy, under extreme conditions. Therefore, you must have excellent physical and mental condition. Do you have what it takes?

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed to Defense as a 'Corporal Special Operations Commando'.

This is what you will do

As a Corporal Special Operations Commando in the Army, you will work for the Commando Corps (KCT). You can be deployed for short, quick actions or for operations lasting several days. You will carry out secret assignments in small groups, deep in enemy territory. Your main tasks consist of:

• Special Reconnaissance (SR): gathering intelligence about the enemy, performed in a hostile or semi-hostile environment, diplomatically sensitive or politically sensitive environment.
• Direct Action (DA): short, small-scale, and swift operations to capture, neutralize, destroy, damage, or liberate a target. Performed in hostile or semi-hostile environments.
• Military Assistance (MA): training or educating a national or international special unit. For example, Dutch commandos each guide African partner units during the annual Flintlock exercise.

This is where you will work

You will be stationed at the Engelbrecht Van Nassaukazerne in Roosendaal. You will participate in exercises and should take into account that you may be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first complete a training program of approximately one year and six months. This training consists of: the Preliminary Training (VO) of 2 months, the Elementary Commando Training (ECO) of 2 months, and finally the Advanced Commando Training (VCO) of 12 months. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Corporal Special Operations Commando.
