Introductory Text

Have you completed the Basic Training of the Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) and have at least two years of experience within an operational unit? Then, as a military member, you can progress to the Pre-Training of the Commando Corps (KCT), the Special Forces of the Army. As a Commando, you operate in deep secrecy, under extreme conditions. Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed by the Ministry of Defence as a ‘Corporal Special Operations Commando’.

What you will do

As a Corporal Special Operations Commando in the Army, you will work for the Commando Corps (KCT). You can be deployed for short, rapid actions or for operations lasting several days. You will carry out secret missions in small groups, deep within enemy territory. Your main tasks include:

• Special Reconnaissance (SR): gathering intelligence about the enemy, conducted in a hostile or semi-hostile environment, a diplomatically sensitive or politically sensitive environment.
• Direct Action (DA): short, small-scale, and rapid operations to capture, neutralize, destroy, damage, or rescue a target. Conducted in hostile or semi-hostile environments.
• Military Assistance (MA): training or educating a national or international special unit. For example, the Dutch commandos each guide African partner units during the annual exercise Flintlock.

Where you will work

You will be stationed at the Engelbrecht Van Nassaukazerne in Roosendaal. You will participate in exercises and should be prepared for potential deployments.

Before you start, you will follow a training program of approximately 1 year and 4 months in Roosendaal. This consists of: the Pre-Training (VO) of 2 months, the Elementary Commando Training (ECO) of 2 months, and the Advanced Commando Training (VCO) of 12 months. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Corporal Special Operations Commando.
