You bring a smile to every customer's face.

As a Cashier Employee, you will handle everything related to checking out and returning items. And with over 120,000 items and 5 different types of checkouts, you can imagine this is quite different from a standard cashier role. Each type of checkout requires different actions, making your job very diverse.

Your tasks as a Cashier Employee:

• You scan all items at the checkout in a smooth motion.
• You check if the items are loaded safely onto the cart.
• You process returns.
• With your always cheerful mood and personal attention, you bring a smile to every customer's face.

So, whether you're at the regular checkout, our self-checkout, the Drive-In checkout, the Pro counter, or the returns desk: you provide the best service to our customers.

What do you get from us?

• A gross salary between € 2,074 and € 2,800 per month (scale 4) (based on 38 hours), depending on your relevant work experience and age. The mentioned salary applies from age 20. If you are younger, the corresponding youth wage applies: www.werkenbijhornbach.nl/jeugdlonen.
• 24 days a year to celebrate your vacation.
• A contract for 8 months for a fixed number of hours per week. After that, we will continue, that's what we aim for!
• A good result for HORNBACH? Then also a nice bonus, every quarter.
• Travel expenses reimbursement. From 10 kilometers one way, you will receive a reimbursement from us. We will pay for your second-class public transport costs, or €0.23 per kilometer if you come by car, with a maximum of 40 kilometers per day.
• An extensive onboarding period. And afterwards, plenty of attention for your development, with (vocational) training and courses.
• A well-arranged pension. We pay 2/3rds of the premium, you pay the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do I have to be to work in the Service & Checkout department?

You must be at least 16 years old, due to safety requirements in the DIY store. Our team consists of colleagues of all ages and backgrounds. What they have in common? They stand by each other and ensure everyone feels welcome.

How large is the Service & Checkout department where I will be working?

That depends on the store. In some stores, 30 or 35 colleagues work in the Service & Checkout department; in another store, this could be 50. Of course, you won't all be working at the same time, but in different shifts and also in different locations within the store.

What are the working hours?

Your working hours are flexible. We create your schedule together, and you will receive it four weeks in advance.

HORNBACH is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. On Saturdays, most stores are open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (except Alblasserdam: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM).

On Sundays, most stores are open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, Groningen, Apeldoorn, Enschede, and Nijmegen are open from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. And Alblasserdam is closed on Sundays.

First Interview

Second Interview

Whether a second interview is needed depends on the role you have applied for. During this interview, we will go deeper into what working at HORNBACH actually means, the content of the role, team composition, and your interests and ambitions.

Screening (VOG)

For a Cashier role, you will need a VOG (Certificate of Conduct). We will then send you a link with which you can apply for your VOG from Justis. Of course, we will pay the costs.
