About the Client Our Client is one of the leading universal banks in Poland, belonging to an international financial group. The organization offers comprehensive banking services for individual and business clients, developing modern solutions in the areas of daily banking, financing, and payment systems. About the Project We are looking for an experienced Kafka Engineer to join a long-term project in the Data Platform area. The person in this role will be responsible for building a modern, hybrid Kafka environment connecting on-premise clusters with AWS infrastructure. Collaboration Model Service provision takes place remotely (1 visit to the office in Wrocław per month). Realizing the project will be facilitated by: Minimum 4 years of experience working with Apache Kafka Very good knowledge of Confluent Platform (Enterprise) and Confluent Cloud Experience in migrating and replicating clusters using: MirrorMaker 2, Cluster Linking, Confluent Replicator Practical knowledge of AWS services: VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, MSK, S3, KMS, Secrets Manager Experience in designing and maintaining hybrid environments Very good knowledge of Terraform (module creation, tests using Terratest and tfsec) Knowledge of Ansible Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins Experience in automating integration tests for Apache Kafka Good knowledge of Python, Bash, and Ansible Experience with monitoring and observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Confluent Control Center, OpenTelemetry, Elastic Stack Knowledge of security aspects including: TLS, SASL, ACL, RBAC, data encryption at rest and in transit Experience working in Scrum or Kanban methodologies and knowledge of Jira and Confluence. Your Contribution to the Project: Designing hybrid Apache Kafka topology (on-premise ↔ AWS) Selection, configuration, and development of Confluent Platform components, including: Schema Registry, Flink, Control Center, Tableflow Creation and configuration of Kafka clusters (Amazon MSK and Confluent Cloud) along with necessary infrastructure Implementation of monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana Configuration and maintenance of MirrorMaker 2, Cluster Linking, and Confluent Replicator Ensuring high data consistency and low latency during transfer between environments Creation and development of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) for Kafka deployments, schemas, and consumer applications Implementation of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including versioning, plan testing, and automated deployments Creation and maintenance of operational runbooks, alerts, and SLA/SLO indicators Incident resolution, environment performance optimization, and configuration tuning Close cooperation with Data Engineering, DevOps, and Security teams Mentoring less experienced team members and conducting technical workshops.
