For the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service, we are looking for a Jurist Milieu.

What will you do?
You will work as a lawyer specializing in environmental law and play a crucial role in ensuring that government decisions are carefully prepared and executed. You will defend these decisions before a complaints committee or court and provide thorough legal advice to clients and municipalities based on your knowledge and experience.
Furthermore:

• Handle the judicial handling of enforcement cases within environmental law.
• Advise colleagues and clients on legal matters within environmental law.
• Maintain contact with municipalities, clients, and stakeholders to align decisions.
• Work together with supervisors and environmental advisors and represent municipalities and clients in complaints and appeals procedures.
• Participate in multidisciplinary projects and function as a key figure in communication with offenders, complainants, and applicants to ensure enforcement.
• Think of solutions that fit the situation and try to reach a solution through amicable negotiations.
• Work on permit applications, notifications, business controls, and enforcement actions.
• Represent municipalities and provinces before complaints committees and in appeals cases before the court.
• Conduct (literature) research and deepen your knowledge of jurisprudence to support decisions.

Your profile
You are a proactive, experienced lawyer with a completed education at HBO/WO level in a relevant field. You have affinity with environmental law and especially with soil, noise, odor or agriculture.

Furthermore you possess:

• At least 5 years of experience as an environmental lawyer.
• Communicative skills and persuasiveness.
• The ability to quickly grasp the essence of a problem and ask critical questions.
• A keen eye for details and the ability to quickly form an opinion.
• Independence and the initiative to tackle bottlenecks.
• Teamwork-oriented and the ability to adapt your communication style to different conversation partners.
• Environmental awareness and administrative sensitivity.
• Knowledge of Wabo, Environmental Management Act, Awb and the Environmental Act.
