Junior Statistic Process Expert (V/M/X)

At the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), we are looking for a Statistic Process Expert to strengthen the department General Statistics. The department General Statistics provides statistical information nodes for the NBB and a large number of external users. The production and dissemination of these statistics takes place according to high quality standards, with attention to integrating new user needs and innovative current best practice in official statistics, based on international consultation. In this context, much attention is paid to supporting and motivating people within the department to contribute to a qualitative statistical production in general interest. The function is located within the IT Support Cell of the Financial Statistics Service. This cell is not only responsible for monetary and financial statistics, effect statistics, calculation of income from investments, but also for preparing financial accounts, payment balances and international investment position. The service is also actively involved in the national and international decision-making process regarding new statistics and methodologies in the domains that concern it. You develop and maintain in-house IT applications, you conduct thorough functional and technical tests on developed software, you convert data and reports from databases based on clear criteria, and work internal databases to provide reliable and well-structured information to internal and external users. You manage access rights to IT applications (IGA) and platforms such as Darwin. You closely follow developments within the domain of software development, database management and statistical processes to contribute to a modern and qualitative service delivery. You possess a bachelor's degree (preferably in informatics or equivalent), you are communicative and have a basic knowledge of French and English (min. level B1). You program in SAS, R, and/or Python, or are willing to learn these programming languages. Your knowledge of the Dababricks environment and/or use of new technologies such as Copilot, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, and PowerBI is a plus point. The ability to apply and implement methodological guidelines from international institutions (ECB, BIS, etc.) is an asset. You show initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
