At VREY, we are building the EnergyOS for apartment buildings.

In Germany, there are over 3.3 million multi-party houses – and they are the black hole of the energy transition.

At the same time, regulation is forcing owners into massive investments: solar is becoming mandatory, smart meters must be rolled out nationwide within the next 5 years, and heating and mobility are being electrified. The apartment building is transforming from a mere "concrete gold" asset into an active part of the decentralized energy infrastructure.

What is missing is an integrated system that makes this transformation manageable both economically and operationally.

VREY combines certified metering point operation with its own software, enabling owners for the first time to sell their self-generated solar power directly to their tenants – simply and without becoming an energy supplier themselves (§42b EnWG).

This transforms regulatory compulsion into a profitable and predictable opportunity:

• Double-digit returns and value appreciation for owners,

• ~20% electricity cost savings for tenants, and

• digital infrastructure for storage, heat pumps, and flexibility.

We already manage a three-digit number of projects – including the largest portfolio holders and housing cooperatives – in all 16 federal states. This makes us one of the leading providers in the market in a very short time.

As part of our seed funding, we have raised €3.3 million from leading impact and energy VCs (including Rubio Impact Ventures, HTGF, Kopa Ventures). With the fresh capital, we are entering our next growth phase and strategically expanding our team.

Your Profile

• You already have initial experience in Consulting (Tier 1/Tier 2), High-Growth Start-ups (ideally Operations or Process Optimization), or Project Management and a completed degree in a relevant field.

• Experience or strong interest in data analysis, automation, and AI/LLM agents (e.g., Python, APIs, handling large amounts of data).

• Very good understanding of numbers and data; enjoyment in systematically and data-drivenly tackling data quality problems.

• Ideally, experience in the energy industry / market communication (MaKo, metering point operation, GGV/tenant electricity, balancing) – or a clear willingness to quickly immerse yourself deeply.

• Structured, conscientious work approach: you are not satisfied with "job done" but check if the result is substantively correct.

• Self-initiative and ownership mentality: you take ownership of an area rather than just working through tasks; and strive to unlock your full potential in that area.

• You are consciously not looking for a 9-to-5 job, but want to take responsibility in a fast-paced, founder-close environment, build structures, and actively shape growth.

• You are located in Berlin (or willing to relocate) – our office is our home base.

• You speak German and English fluently.

Your Tasks

Mission of the Role

You are at a company-critical interface: deeply involved in the operational energy data business and with the mandate to fundamentally automate this business through your own data analyses, tools, and AI agents. You see the immediate effect of your work – every solved ticket brings a project closer to billing, every built agent saves the entire team time.

1. Data Analysis & Automation through Custom AI Agents

• You analyze measurement values, meter readings, and dispatch jobs for patterns, outliers, and recurring error causes.

• You translate this knowledge into AI agents that independently diagnose errors and suggest or implement solutions.

• You are the technical driver of the Metering Point Operation (MSB) app: from daily operations, you identify which features are missing, specify them, and integrate them into the product through your own development.

2. Operational Energy Data Responsibility up to Billing Readiness

• You bring projects to billing readiness month after month: correcting missing or implausible measurement values, generating replacement values from reference profiles, masking and recalculating values.

• You create dispatch jobs, monitor their status, and validate the data after each fix.

• In doing so, you work daily in our partners' app and our internal MSB app, following standard MSB processes.

3. Ownership & Scaling of the MSB Area

• You are responsible for all energy data tickets internally (project and billing teams) and externally (local grid operator, suppliers, transmission system operator) – from acceptance and prioritization to resolution – and serve as the escalation point for complex cases.

• You keep an eye on MSB-relevant mailboxes, assign messages from market partners to the correct cases, and ensure that no time-sensitive communication is missed.

• You train interns and working students in processes, tools, and the MSB Bible, guide them to independence, and keep the documentation up-to-date.
