Junior Design Engineer – Large Electric Machines

We are looking for a motivated Junior Design Engineer to join our international engineering team in Craiova, Romania. This position is particularly suitable for Mechanical Engineering students, recent university graduates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as candidates who are currently pursuing a master’s or PhD in the same field. 

You will work closely with our experienced Senior Design Engineers, supporting the mechanical design and development of large generators and electric motors for demanding international applications. 

Are you currently completing your master’s thesis? We also welcome applications from students in the final stage of their master’s studies. In this case, we offer the possibility of starting with a part-time employment contract, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time position after graduation. 

Main Responsibilities 

• Support Senior Design Engineers in Mechanical Design and development  
• Create and modify 3D models, 2D technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using SOLIDWORKS. 
• Assist with mechanical calculations and basic strength verifications for components such as shafts, bearings, and mechanical connections. 
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and design data in our Product Data Management System (EPDM). 
• Support the review and optimization of existing mechanical designs regarding manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency. 
• Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality teams on international projects. 

Learning and Development 

• Work under the guidance and mentorship of experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineers. 
• Develop practical knowledge of electrical machine construction, mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes. 
• Gain experience in professional engineering workflows, technical documentation, and international design standards. 
• Gradually take responsibility for individual components, drawings, and smaller design tasks. 
• Participate in technical training and knowledge exchange with colleagues in Germany, Romania, and China. 

Your Profile 

• Mechanical Engineering students, recent university graduates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as candidates currently pursuing a master’s or PhD degree  
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering materials, and manufacturing technologies. 
• Initial experience with 3D CAD software, ideally SOLIDWORKS, gained through university projects, internships, or thesis work. 
• Basic understanding of mechanical calculations and technical drawings. 
• Good English communication skills, ideally B2 level or higher. 
• Familiarity with MS Office applications. 
• Strong willingness to learn, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. 
• Team-oriented, reliable, and motivated to develop professionally in an international engineering environment. 

Previous professional experience is not required. Relevant university projects, internships, and practical experience gained during academic studies are considered valuable.
